Giving faction only to the winners would decrease the number of leechers, but it would also decrease the number of players. Where Ft. Aspenwood has Luxons winning more battles, the number of Kurzicks playing there would drop dramatically. AB's would never go anywhere, or be one sided, as players won't play without rewards as it had existed once before.

Which is why I think the rewards should be increased for winners... Either that or making the map a little more balanced. I don't mean to be a whiner, but Kurzicks have a pretty serious disadvantage in that map, in my opinion.

I've suggested this before:

Make the "enter" button move to a random location on the screen every 15 seconds.

Honestly, most of the people that leech are using a simple keyboard event macro that just repeatedly clicks on the same spot in the screen. It's just pressing the "enter" button over and over again. That's why people think these bots "move around." They are just clicking a point in space. At some point the manage to move into a corner and then stop. No AI there... just dumb clicking.

If the enter button moved then most of these script kiddies would have to resort to full screen capture and analysis. That's way beyond the skill level of all but 0.01% of these people.

It's a simple fix ANet could make if it really wanted to, but ANet doesn't want to do that. It would siphon resources away from Nightfall development. Anyway, I can't see this being fixed after we were promised alternate methods of entry into the elite missions and have yet to see them delivered. I think ANet mainly bides its time and waits to see if issues die away. If it can make empty promises to get more time then it does this. Issues that won't die get the dev's attention. (Being a SW dev myself I see a lot of parallel between ANet and how things work at my own company.)

Just my $0.02.

Do what I do and make a big fuss about hassling idiots in public. When I need to blow off steam I just hit Drok's and start jerking around some moron spamming things in the wrong chat channel, or someone trying to scam. I strung one scammer doing a "raffle" along for about 20 minutes once pretending I kept getting the amounts of money wrong, hitting the wrong buttons, etc.

Idiot just kept on being optimistic that I was actually going to let him steal my money... I'll bet he pissed himself with joy when I put 90k in the window by "mistake" and then screamed out loud when I "accidentally" canceled instead of accepted.

No I haven't. I assume you're refering to the ability to generate a keyboard event. If the UI-button is bound to the "Enter" key then I could see a macro making it into a match. However, if the UI-button is unable to be bound to any key then you'd have to find the button's location and mouse1-down there.

At this point I'd take anything over the current system which is trivial to bot.

I say add certain victory codes to Faction distribution, and make them secret.

Example would be that a players needs to use skills an (X)# of times, and cause an (X)% of damage during a game in order to recieve faction in that match, also add that (X)# of bots per game = 100 Faction extra for remaining players. Thus bots get nothing and you get compinsated for an unbalanced game.

Actually Autohotkey is some kind of opensource keyboard macroing utility that I found amazingly flexible for botting purposes. What you proposed (ie: making the enter mission button move about every few seconds) would only serve to annoy legit players and do absolutely nothing against bots scripted using Autohotkey. All the script would do is search for a bitmap containing the "Enter mission" button, move the mouse to the position, and click enter. Easy.

What they can try doing instead is make the button rainbow colours and kinda swirl and groove around every second.. THAT perhaps might be a feasible counter.

I find that tool pretty amazing, for something that is open sourced and free.

I'm intrigued. How would it search the bitmap?

I guess the point is moot anyway since not too many people PvP in Aspenwood. It's just sad that ANet's "starter' PvP has to be represented by Random Arenas and Aspenwood.

I guess when you PvP with the hoi polloi this is what you should expect.

yeah thats how i see it.

I havent been to Jade Quarry yet (skipped it with both my Fax characters) is there less of a problem with these "befriending afkers" in Jade Quarry? Simple logic says that there will be less there... if the person is that lazy about getting his 10k fax quest done with, he/she is definately too lazy to find the Quarry...

I was never that impressed with either of the missions- I feel like im somehow doing paperwork for ANet... like each jade/amber you return is a piece of a larger puzzle, and we are just drones... collecting collecting collecting.

I dont like to feel like Im ANets little bunny-drone, sorry. If I want pvp I do AB, RA, etc.
